1. Tell me about yourself.
Trap: Most people start rambling about their life story. That’s not what the interviewer wants.
Best Answer: Start from your current role, highlight key strengths, and connect those directly with the role you’re applying for. Make it a value-driven pitch.
2. What are your greatest strengths?
Trap: Bragging too much makes you sound arrogant. Staying too humble makes you forgettable.
Best Answer: Pick 3–4 specific strengths, backed by real achievements. Align them with the job description for maximum impact.
3. What are your greatest weaknesses?
Trap: Avoid clichés or real flaws that would cost you the job.
Best Answer: Choose a minor, non-essential skill you’ve already improved — and explain how you overcame it.
4. Tell me about something you did – or failed to do – that you now feel a little ashamed of.
Trap: Don’t confess personal or emotional baggage. Keep it professional.
Best Answer: Explain your habit of reflecting daily and improving continuously — showing maturity, not guilt.
5. Why are you leaving your current job?
Trap: Don’t badmouth your boss, team, or company. Stay positive.
Best Answer: If employed: “I’m looking for the right challenge.” If unemployed: “I took time to upskill and focus on growth.”
6. The Silent Treatment
Trap: Interviewer stares in silence — don’t panic and overtalk.
Best Answer: Pause, then ask politely: “Would you like me to elaborate on that?” Show confidence under pressure.
7. Why should I hire you?
Trap: Generic answers kill the deal.
Best Answer: Focus on their top 3 needs. Then give 3 reasons why you’re the best fit, supported by examples.
8. Aren’t you overqualified for this position?
Trap: They think you’ll get bored and leave quickly.
Best Answer: “With my experience, I’ll add immediate value and I’m here for long-term growth, not just a title.”
9. Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Trap: Too ambitious? You sound like a flight risk. Too vague? You sound lost.
Best Answer: “If this role continues to challenge me, I’ll grow within the company into more leadership and contribution.”
10. Describe your ideal company, location and job.
Trap: If your dream role doesn’t match this job, they won’t hire you.
Best Answer: “This company already aligns with what I’m seeking — impact, growth, and purpose.”
